Business History: Peotone Bowl originally opened in 1946. With the help of many friends and a lot of determination, the Jurres’s and family friend Todd Sandberg became the owners and reopened for business in June of 1999, just in time for the Country Festival that year. They sold their first beer at 5:30pm, only to discover they didn’t have change and the bar was full!

Best business advice: Treat the customers the way you would like to be treated.

Secret to their success: Charge fair prices and have a good staff.

Memorable moment in company’s history: The first night of business, Sept. 10, 1999 (Country Fest Weekend) and when the mortgage was burned.

Other: The Jurres Family prides themselves on keeping the Peotone Bowling Lanes a friendly and family oriented place of entertainment. They host a number of birthday parties for adults and kids, and are still hosting one of the oldest singles tournaments in Illinois for the 60th consecutive year in 2006. Bob Jurres explained that the “Milt’s Again” Lounge was named after one of the lanes previous owners, Milt Niefeldt. They are also host the the Peotone Chamber of Commerce Christmas party each year.
