Business History: My Grandfather purchased the paper in 1941. My father expanded the business to seven papers in the 1960s & 70s, and added New Lenox in 1983. I added Frankfort in 2004. We have been documenting history for a lot of years, and before our time, the Peotone Eagle went back all the way to the late 1800s.
My grandfather was afflicted with polio and found the only way he could succeed was to go into business form himself. After working here during his high school years, he bought the paper in 1941. My dad went to the Army for 2 years, and then decided to join his father in the business. Larry also followed for a while, but in the 1980s decided to pursue his love of the fire department. Now I run the papers with my mom and my brother Mike. Mike manages the printing facility in Bradley.
Best business advice: Give the customer what they want.
Secret to success: Great Employees!
Memorable moments in companys history: Adding the offset press in 1969, adding color to the Peotone Vedette in 2006, and the start of the Russell Publications website in 2006. My dad was one of the first newspapers to transition to the use of computers in 1983. (There were many late nights during that time!)
